Combine hash browns, egg and flour in a medium mixing bowl. Mix well with a rubber spatula. Spoon hash brown mixture into a ¼ cup measuring up, packing firmly. Place pre-measured hash brown cakes onto a plate.
Heat oil about ¼ inch deep in a skillet over medium heat until hot. Working in batches, carefully drop hash brown patties into oil, pressing down with a spatula to make 3-inch disks. Cook 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
